This brochure, part of UNDP/GEF's ''Lessons for the Future'' series, highlights examples of activities to address climate change under GEF's five priority areas:
■ Transforming market policies to promote energy efficient products and processes;
■ Increasing access to local sources of financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency;
■ Promoting power-sector policy frameworks to support renewable energy and energy
efficiency;
■ Renewable energy for poverty alleviation;
■ Catalysing shifts in modes of urban transport and the use of ‘clean’ vehicles and fuel
technologies.
Through 153 projects currently under way in 119 countries, UNDP-GEF is expanding the use of renewable energy technology, fostering markets for energy-efficient lighting, appliances and transport, and protecting forests and other ecosystems that absorb carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
